Use VMWARE install Windows Vista

First, convert your vista into an iso image, then use Alcohol 120% virtual drive to open it
Then run Vmware and start a new virtual disk with a space of at least 9GB. Then connect Alcohol 120% to the virtual disk
Don’t start installing yet. You need a temporary data swap area for installing Vista.
Then you can start installing vista and time you needed depends on your hardware configuration
After the installation of Vista is completed, don’t forget to install the “Vmware tools. Otherwise you get a “ugly” interface.

Iconix as defense to Phishing

Paypal, an division of Ebay, announce Monday that it is going to use iconix as solutions to phishing problems. This technology has been fully tested last year and on Monday, it will be officially promoted to Paypal’s 164 million accounts. Over the past few years, phishing has been a problem to paypal and other online banking users. A email that looks like was sent by Paypal states that you need to login to validate your account. As a result, the information you entered will be get stolen and you may end up lose all the money in your paypal account.

Iconix says its technology works with most Webmail programs, including Windows Live Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, and Earthlink, as well as some of the more popular office suites. To date, however, the technology only works with Microsoft Outlook 2003 (in beta form) and Outlook Express.

Shuttle’s PC for only $199

Open source rocks! Shuttle introduces KPC linux PC for only $199. It’ll have an Intel Celeron processor, a 945GC chipset, 512MB of memory and either a 60GB or 80GB hard drive. What it won’t have: an optical drive or a PCI Express slot. Despite that, it’s a pretty good-looking box, and comes in red, blue, white, and black, each with a different icon stamped on the front.

What’s so great about this computer is not its price but the computer case in my opinion. The computer case comes in red, blue, white and black. So it will be a great computer if you care less about the functionality but more about the look of the computer.

Shuttle also says there will be a $99 barebones version of the KPC. That version will have the option of upgrading to a Core2Duo processor and 1GB of memory. Both will be available for purchase near the end of the first quarter.

If you are using firefox, you probably have a good reason. Personally, I really like the extensions provided by various contributors. These extensions are open-source and free. Cnet.com recently introduced the top 10 extensions. You may not need all of the extensions, but certainly some of the extensions are highly recommended.

1: Tab mix plus
TMP can change nearly every behavior and action performed by tabs. With this tab, you can specify where pages will open, duplicate a tab, prevent it from closing, merge tabs and more.

2:MR local tech install
This tool can be used if you want more control over the plug-ins. It gives the user a restart button that reboots the browser quickly and re-open all the tabs that were closed.

3: All-in-one sidebar
All-in-one sidebar gives the users a sidebar and plenty of things to do with it. You can set it live to either side of the browser and use hot key controls.

4: CustomizeGoogle
This tool lets you tweak services provided by Google. Things you can do including removing sponsored ads and adding position ranking. A new feature of CustomizeGoogle gets you to stream the Web search results.

5:Gmail Space
Gmail Space is one of my favorite extensions. It converts 6 GB free online space for email to free online space for whatever you like. You can use it like a FTP program and transfer files to your gmail.

This mini device is equipped with low end intel processor, 512 RAM, 4 GB flash drive and built-in Wi-Fi. It weights only about 2 pounds with 7-inch LCD and a built-in camera. you can pick different colors such as white, black, pink, green and blue. This laptop is priced at $349 and the one with 2GB flash memory is only selling at $299, which resembles the project of “one laptop for every child in the developing country”.

Good Time to Get Shares from Microsoft?

Microsoft reported the fastest 1st quarter revenue growth, which is a 27 percent surge to $13.76 billion. This is the fastest growth pace since 1999. It represents an almost 3 billion increase over the first quarter of last year.

After all, this increase is well expected due to the release of its newest operating system Vista and its strategical move in recent years such as more collaboration with Linux vendor. The results were buoyed by combined revenue growth of more than 20 percent across its client, business, and server and tools businesses.

The problem is how far will Microsoft go in the future against AMD? Will Microsoft further beat AMD in the chip market? All these will be a question mark for potential investors.

Quad Core Computer Under $1000 by Gateway

Sets to debut on Oct14, Gateway announced a new line of high performance desktops and laptops that are priced under $1000.The Gateway GT5628 Desktop is selling at $529.99. An example offered by Gateway, however, with a 500GB SATA hard drive and an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor with VT, was priced at $959.99. The company’s P-series notebooks, meanwhile, will include two new models that boast a 17-inch widescreen and more than a gigabyte of memory.

The Gateway GT5628 machine will include an Intel Core 2 Quad Core Processor (a Q6600, in the $959 version) and up to 3 Gbytes of dual channel memory. Consumers can purchase a hard drive with up to 500GB of space and most models will offer the multi-format, dual-layer drives with Labelflash technology. The PC ships with an Nvidia GeForce 8500 GT cards and is powered by the Intel G33 chipset, which is qualified for its Viiv initiative.

The GT5628 chassis also houses an optional Portable Media Drive bay housing a portable drive that can be either used as a secondary drive, mounted within the PC, or disconnected and used as a “sneakrnet” to shift data between other PCs via a USB cable.

AM2 CPU socket, as the replacement for socket 939 and socket 754, is my favorite platform. There are some really “cool” AM2 Motherboard that I think should get mentioned here:
